Go State!

Last night we went to Iowa State's football season opener. This has become a tradition for us and I hope it continues as the boys grow older. Although we didn't make it into the stadium this time, we still had fun people-watching and tailgating for awhile. Hopefully we're brainwashing the kids enough so they don't grow up to cheer for the dreaded Old Gold and Black (no offense, Vicki)! :-) Oh, and the Cyclones beat the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, 44-17.

Family of Four

Our first official outing as a 'family of four' was last weekend. We took a quick trip to Little Wall Lake (just north of town) for a few hours. Sam had fun playing in the sand (he didn't want to get into the water) and Jake did what he does best -- sleep!

Random Shots

Here are few random pics from the past week. Last weekend, Ray and Casey came to visit, so here's a picture of her holding Jake.

The next picture is Sam wearing Jake's hospital hat. The ladies' auxiliary from the hospital crochets a little hat for each baby, so we have one for each of the boys. Sam thinks the hat is hilarious since it has a "ball" on the top of it -- and he loves to wear it all around the house!

And the last picture is Sam's 'Spongebob Squarepants' bandaid. He is sort of proud of this. It's the first bandaid he's ever had (besides from the doctor when he received shots).

He's Here!

Jacob Thomas Knoll ("Jake") was born at 1:24 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3. It was a very fast labor. I started having regular contractions around 7:30 p.m. and we got to the hospital at 10:30 p.m. Unfortunately, the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, (they didn't know this until he was delivered, but his heart rate was dropping so they needed to deliver him quickly). But he's here and healthy and that's the main thing. We are adjusting to life and all is going well.
